A work in progress

I've been brooding over this sketch for, I think, about two years.

I sat down yesterday and plotted out a design I feel really good about.

I got a lot more done today (sorry, no photos). After I get the design completely figured out, I'm going to transfer it to Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper and finish it in colored pencil and watercolor.

The Flylady is making it all possible. As I follow her instructions day by day, space is opening up in my home and in my time. If you struggle with disorganization and feel overwhelmed with your life, check out her website and follow her babysteps exactly. (I do mean exactly. I've tried to just do it my own way and it didn't work well for very long.) Since I committed, out of desperation, to following her directions as carefully as I could, I feel that I am entering a completely new phase in my life.

  1. Oooo, pretty! I'll look forward to seeing the finished piece. I think I'll look at your Flylady's site. I'm completely organized, but that doesn't mean it's neat. I suppose I might consider some suggestions :)

  2. Thank you! I'm not surprised to hear that you're completely organized. That's how I would have pegged you. I'm not naturally organized or neat, but neatness, apart from organization, brings me a surprising amount of rest and peace. I'd love to hear if the Flylady is helpful to you.

  3. I like her comment about cleaning up 15 minutes a day. I'm pretty sure I'm capable of that? Maybe? lol

  4. Hey, if I can do it, I know you can! Its amazing how much cleaning can fit in fifteen minutes, especially when you know its only fifteen minutes. Its also amazing how easy it gets after the house reaches a sort of tipping point between mess and neatness.
